Cloud-based, unified ERP deployment integrates finance, sales, supply chain, and production, improving efficiency and data accuracy over previous siloed ERP systems.
When a Malaysia-based maker of precision materials and components for semiconductors, automotive products, and medical devices relocated several business units amid expanding product lines, an urgent need arose.
Ferrotec Manufacturing Malaysia Sdn Bhd’s first South-east Asian plant (located in Kulim) wanted a unified IT platform to integrate finance, sales, supply chain, and manufacturing operations.
Previously, the firm’s global sites had been relying on disparate regional enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems — such as a locally developed platform in China, and a US-specific vendor — forcing heavy manual workflows, fragmented data, and error-prone decision-making at the new site without IT resources being shared optimally.
To address these issues within a tight timeline, Ferrotec announced on 27 November 2025 that it has deployed a cloud-based ERP solution via a structured two-phase implementation. Phase 1 covered financial accounting, procurement, and supply chain management; Phase 2 added sales and production capabilities. Also:
- Cloud ERP unification eliminated siloed systems, enabling standardized processes across modules
- Real-time data integration reduced accuracy issues by 80 percent and supported scalability for future sites
- Automated workflows boosted procurement efficiency by 90%; finance productivity by 40%, and cut supply chain costs by 50%
- A phased rollout guided by vendor expertise ensured minimal disruption, paving the way for manufacturing execution system integrations and quality compliance extensions
The firm’s IT Manager, Jason Ong, said: “Manufacturing advanced components like semiconductor parts demands precision and specialized technology, so our priority was implementing a reliable system to support our finance, sales, supply chain, and manufacturing processes. Today, we’re operating more smoothly and efficiently, with significant productivity gains and lower costs.”
To harmonize operations regionally, the firm plans to include future digitalization of advanced quality management and evaluations of AI-driven tools; HR management; spend automation; and customer experience platforms.
According to Vipin Chandran, Managing Director, SAP Malaysia, the firm’s ERP vendor: “We are proud of how our technology is helping businesses across Malaysia modernize and scale with confidence.”
