TD SYNNEX recently released its Fourth Annual Direction of Technology (DoT) Report, based on insights from more than 1,400 IT solution providers and resellers across 40 countries.
The DoT Report’s findings highlight how AI, services, and specialization are driving the next wave of IT growth, despite ongoing macroeconomic challenges. For Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ), the report shows that partners are balancing fast-growing technologies like AI and cybersecurity with the enduring importance of devices and hardware. Key findings for APJ include:
- AI is critical for success: Nearly 76% of partners are investing in AI infrastructure and cloud, and 71% in AI automation and data management, though talent shortages remain the top barrier.
- Cybersecurity is fundamental: Over 73% of partners are offering or planning cybersecurity solutions, with data, network, and cloud/app security as top priorities—but skills gaps persist.
- Services are surging: 83% now provide consulting or professional services, and 78% managed services, though workforce scalability and retention challenges continue.
- Hardware stays relevant: Despite the pivot to high-growth tech, 69% still offer devices and 58% provide hardware, above global averages.
