UBS has selected BT International’s specialized trading business BT Trading & Command to modernize its global trader communications.
Working together, the companies are successfully rolling out a cloud-native trader voice platform in Microsoft Azure – one of the first live deployments of its kind in a trading environment to unlock greater agility and efficiency.
The solution is already live across Singapore, Hong Kong, the UK, US and Switzerland, supporting more than 2,400 traders globally, with further markets to come by the end of 2026.
The platform consolidates UBS’ trading systems estate from 20 platforms into a single global solution, helping to reduce complexity while maintaining the resilience, regulatory compliance and data sovereignty requirements of trading environments.
The deployment also provides a foundation for future innovation, including AI-driven insights and automation.
Resilience and compliance
While voice services in the cloud are well established, trading floor communications represent one of the most demanding environments in the world, where resilience, performance and regulatory compliance are critical.
BT Trading’s Enterprise Cloud, fully hosted within Microsoft Azure, will enable UBS to consolidate and standardize its trading systems estate from 20 platforms into a single global solution. Operational across 17 countries, it is currently used by more than 2,400 traders with the ability to scale further. It helps to ensure compliance with local regulations while maintaining strict data sovereignty in each jurisdiction.
The solution delivers secure, carrier-grade voice services directly into the cloud, offering end-to-end encryption, integrated recording and monitoring capabilities, along with communication application server (CAS) oversight middleware to align with regulatory compliance requirements.
By moving to a unified, cloud-native platform, UBS benefits from improved operational efficiency, reduced complexity and increased flexibility. This allows it to create a foundation for future innovation, including AI-driven insights and automation. At the same time, traders gain access to a consistent, high-performance communication environment, supporting faster, better-informed decision-making across markets.
Brandon Benson, Managing Director at UBS, said: “BT was chosen as our preferred technology partner with the capability to deliver a fully integrated solution that meets our technical, regulatory and operational requirements. This ensures our traders have a robust, flexible and future-proof communication platform.”
Joris van Oers, Managing Director, Sales & Commercial, BT International, said: “This marks a significant milestone for the industry. UBS’ transformation demonstrates that cloud can now meet the highest standards of security, compliance, and performance. As a trusted partner, we’re proud to support UBS in building a future-ready foundation for its global trading operations.”
