Respondents were polled for their businesses’ plans for next year and beyond, involving generative AI, cybersecurity and other tech products/services
Based on an April to June 2024 channel partner survey with 287 entities from the Asia Pacific and Japan region* on various business performance and expectations, a global distributor and solutions aggregator for the IT ecosystem has released findings related to the direction of technology among respondents from the region.
First, respondents had cited increasing their focus on expanding their service offerings, with managed services and professional services expected to account for 57% and 58% of their business portfolios within the next three years.
Second, 84% of respondents had indicated receiving generative AI (GenAI) proof-of-concept requests, while 36% cited planning to offer AI solutions within two years, focusing on GenAI (52%), AI services (48%), and AI-enabled devices (35%).
Other findings for APJ
In terms of cybersecurity solutions, 43% of infrastructure-focused partners had cited plans to offer security solutions in the next 24 months, addressing evolving threats and leveraging AI for both protection and innovation. Also:
- Data indicated the extent of talent gap challenges: Critical skills gaps in AI, security, and data analytics were growing, and linked to targeted hiring strategies for future growth among respondents.
- Networking, security, endpoint devices, and servers continued to be top revenue drivers reported by respondents, with endpoint devices leading sales in 2024, bolstered by AI PCs and sustained demand across core technologies.
According to Jaideep Malhotra, President (Asia Pacific & Japan), TD SYNNEX, the firm that conducted the survey with its channel partners: “While partners and the industry are excited to explore the efficiencies and opportunities offered by GenAI, core technologies like networking, security, and endpoint devices remain key revenue drivers that continue to be in focus”, referring to the responses and expectations gathered during the mid-year survey (2024) period.
