After all, the group is continually growing, and technological advances can always be cherry-picked to benefit its global human capital
With operations in 18 countries and territories in and beyond the Asia Pacific region, Sime Darby Berhad of Malaysia has global business interests listed as industrial, motors and logistics sectors as well as the healthcare and insurance segments.
As the group continues to grow, its strategy to appreciate its globally-sited human workforce has had to be revisited continually. With a Global HR transformation program underway since 2022, the group has already successfully unified its human resources systems in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, and Macau —will rollouts to its offices in New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan, and Thailand by early 2025.
According to their Group Chief Human Resources Officer, Roselaini Faiz: “Our employees, as always, are integral to our business, and we strive to provide a world-class experience working with a multinational company. We are proud to offer our employees the tools and support they need to flourish and thrive at work through better collaboration and efficiency with data-backed decision-making across the Group.”
Since the start of the HR transformation program, the group has adopted a human capital management (HCM) platform in its Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea offices. The transformation delivers a complete and easily accessible overview of employee data and transactions; streamlines over 100 processes and various systems; enhances the employee experience and facilitates collaboration — benefiting approximately 30,000 employees across various divisions and levels, and laying the foundation for future deployment to other global markets.
According to Pannie Sia, General Manager (ASEAN), Workday, the HCM platform used by Sime Darby: “Talent is the currency of a company’s success. Having a holistic, real-time view of its workforce on a unified platform will help enable companies to make more agile decisions, optimize resources, better engage employees, and future-proof their operations to seize new opportunities in a rapidly evolving world.”
