Here’s how Prof Jimmy Choo combines creativity and tech to collaborate and communicate seamlessly in a hybrid work environment.
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many organizations to operate fully remotely. As the pandemic subsides, many companies are contemplating a safe return to office and hybrid work.
However, many business leaders in Asia Pacific struggle to understand what employees want and how to support them to do their jobs productively.
“As ideas around the role of the traditional office continue to shift, there is a critical need for organizations to enable rich collaboration experiences between in-person and remote workers,” said Patrick Moorhead, CEO and chief analyst, Moor Insights & Strategy.
Flexibility and sustained productivity continue to be the strongest sentiment in the region, according to a recent IDC report. The Return to Office and Hybrid Work: What Employers Need to Know report reveals that more than 56% of the employees in Asia Pacific want flexible work with options to work both in the office and remotely, even beyond the pandemic.
Despite being able to sustain productivity while working remotely, IDC’s latest survey reveals that many Asia Pacific employees felt they needed to overcome various technological challenges around access, tools, apps, data, and networks.
The smart office
Since 2018, Huawei has worked to build an all-encompassing smart office framework, based around two core capabilities: cross-device collaboration and ecosystem integration. The Asian tech giant’s latest portfolio release extends Drag-to-Connect capabilities to more devices, streamlining the process of connecting and interacting on multiple devices.
Furthermore, the launch gives new prominence to the HUAWEI Mobile App Engine platform, which makes more than 15,000 mobile apps available to PC users.
One such user is Datuk Professor Jimmy Choo, OBE, who needs no further introduction.
The world-renowned designer and Penang’s pride in the Asia Pacific fashion industry surprised many attendees when he graced the recent Huawei APAC Smart Office Launch 2022 in Thailand, to share his user experience in art creation and work on-the-go with the latest range of HUAWEI Super Devices.
The event showcased a wide range of new Smart Office products for APAC SMBs and consumers, including:

Boundless creation, seamless communication
Traveling to different countries in search of inspiring ideas for his couture collections, Prof Choo often brings along his tech essentials for seamless cross-device collaboration.
As an avid traveler, some of his go-to-tech essentials that help him navigate that next journey a little easier include the HUAWEI MatePad Pro 11-inch tablet paired with the HUAWEI M-Pencil (2nd Generation) stylus pen, HUAWEI MateBook X Pro laptop, HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 2 TWS (true wireless stereo) earphone, and HUAWEI Mate Xs 2 smartphone.
Always drawing inspiration for his designs through travel, Prof Choo enjoys capturing local cultures, sceneries or objects that helps inspire his art creation. Thanks to his HUAWEI Mate Xs 2 smartphone flagship-level photography, bolstered by the HUAWEI XD Optics technology, photos are taken with more light and the level of details is heightened with authentic colors.
When inspiration kicks in while he’s on the go, Prof Choo brings his inspirational ideas to life through paperless drawings with his HUAWEI MatePad Pro 11-inch tablet and the 2nd-generation HUAWEI M-Pencil stylus pen to perfect the finer details.
“Huawei tablets and smartphones really help me, especially on tablets. I can easily and freely draw sketches,” he said. “I travel a lot because of my job, and Huawei tablet is easy to carry because it’s only 11 inches. And from Huawei smartphone I can transfer pictures that I want to discuss. It’s so easy.”
From there, Datuk Professor Jimmy Choo, OBE uses the HUAWEI M-Pencil to capture the desired colour from the photo captured, to paint onto his design – thus, making application of cross-app colour capture to be done more accurately.
“My daughter is always nagging – Dad please don’t waste a lot of paper, take care of the environment!”, quipped Prof Choo. “With my Huawei tablet, I don’t waste paper anymore; I don’t need colored pencils either.”
As a firm believer that applying the right color can help elevate the design of an exquisite pair of heels, he appreciates Huawei’s smart office framework, which allows cross-device collaboration and ecosystem integration. Prof Choo demonstrated how he optimized and efficiently enhance work productivity across HUAWEI Super Device by using the Collaborate Mode to share contents between his tablet and his HUAWEI MateBook X Pro via a simple drag-and-drop for an effortless transfer.
Besides being highly portable and durable, the Huawei MateBook X Pro – Huawei’s premium flagship laptop – also comes with an AI Camera and AI Sound with 6 speakers, which allows him to have high clarity and productive meetings with his team and catching up with his family who are abroad.
In his spare time, or while commuting to London and on trips, Prof Choo shared that he enjoys listening to music with his HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 2. Co-engineered with Devialet, Huawei’s latest earphone sets a new standard for TWS noise cancellation and delivers exceptional sound quality for an ultimate audio experience.
“Whether you are traveling for vacation or for work, this is how you can boost your creativity and productivity on-the-go,” he added.
