Getting the most out of your Wi-Fi 6 printers

By DigiconAsia Editors | Wednesday, May 21, 2025, 11:16 AM Asia/Singapore

Getting the most out of your Wi-Fi 6 printers

Organizations will inevitably end up migrating to a Wi-Fi 6 network, just like mobile phone users will inevitably end up using 5G cellular technology at some point in time.

The day will come when Wi-Fi 6 will be impossible to avoid. When that day will be and what will ultimately push your organization to upgrade may not yet be known. For some, it may be a security threat that needs to be thwarted. For others, it may be the need for network bandwidth as digitalization projects pick up and more devices come online.

That day would also be when you need look into upgrading to Wi-Fi 6 printers. It may be that your organization needs a more secure printing workflow, and a Wi-Fi 6 device connected to a Wi-Fi 6 network offers the strongest defense for your data.

Or it could be that your business needs a printer capable of producing RFID labels, and it just makes the most business sense to also ensure the printer is compatible with Wi-Fi 6 networks for performance and security purposes.

Then again, your company may just be due for a refresh because your printers are reaching end-of-life.

Why Wi-Fi 6 printers

The factors driving both wireless network and device updates are growing more compelling by the day.

For instance, more and more manufacturers, retailers, hospitals, pharmacies and warehouses require RFID source-tagging for suppliers, realizing that RFID-tagged inventory is far easier to track, manage, pick, pack and ship. Meanwhile, shoppers are losing patience when it comes to incorrect product pricing and shelf stock accuracy, and both consumer and commercial customers are holding organizations increasingly accountable for mis-delivered orders and late deliveries, many of which can be traced back to labeling issues at some point in the supply chain.

On top of these typical business dynamics, the number of data breaches is rising each day. Too many organizations prioritize mobile computer security but forget about printer security. That’s why they are viewed as easy targets for bad actors. They have a lot of valuable data feeding to them and, if not locked down well, provide an easy access point to wireless networks and, therefore, other connected enterprise information systems.

Therefore, there will be a day in the very near future when you will need to move to Wi-Fi 6 printers that can help sustain your business and secure your data to the latest standards.

In a nutshell, with Wi-Fi 6 printers, you can:

  • Experience lightning-fast printing speeds and seamless connectivity with Wi-Fi 6 technology, ensuring your documents are ready when you need them.
  • Say goodbye to spotty connections and enjoy reliable and stable printing from any room in your home or office.
  • Effortlessly manage your printing needs from multiple devices simultaneously without compromising on performance.
  • Save time with quicker data transfer rates, making it ideal for high-volume printing tasks and reducing wait times.
  • Enjoy enhanced security features with Wi-Fi 6, providing peace of mind when printing sensitive documents.
  • Upgrade to a future-proof printer that supports the latest wireless standards, ensuring compatibility with new devices and technologies.

Making the move to Wi-Fi 6 printers

Having to either migrate or replace wireless devices and making sure they are all able to connect – and stay connected – to the new network is crucial. You are also going to have to make sure they are as secure as possible – not just printers, but mobile computers, tablets, wearables, and barcode scanners (or sensors, cameras, and robots).

This also applies to your mobile Wi-Fi 6 printers, since business performance often hinges on their performance. If they don’t work, your team cannot easily generate labels or update price tags on the spot, and that will negatively impact your business performance for a host of reasons.
