Increasing workforce efficiency by 40% is one of its long-term goals
What does a global technology firm — one that enterprises consult for their digital transformation needs — itself do to continually keep ahead of the curve?
For one such firm — which had already kept automation a key part of its strategy by 2017 — was to launch an enterprise-wide digital transformation project in October 2020. The massive undertaking involved a complete re-evaluation and transformation of its global business processes, organizations, and corporate culture, in addition to its products, services, and business models.
Recognizing the value of AI-powered automation in transforming its business, Fujitsu wanted to scale even more of its already automated processes and operations in 140 individual departments around the world. According to the firm’s Corporate Executive Officer, Executive Vice President, Chief Digital Transformation Officer and Chief Information Officer, Yuzuru Fukuda: “We see automation as a strategic priority that will help (us) accelerate (our) business transformation… we have seen the incredible ability of automation to deliver value and business growth.”
Banking on an existing automation vendor since 2017, Fujitsu expanded the collaboration to include more AI and intelligence into the organization to:
- Optimize existing business processes and design new automation-led business processes to realize the full potential of its automation deployment
- Streamline operations and boost workforce efficiency in anticipation of future workforce changes
- Equip its workforce with automation skills and help them become citizen developers through automation courses, open badge learning , and hands-on and technical consultations
Said Rob Enslin, Chief Executive Officer, UiPath, the firm’s automation vendor: “Fujitsu are leveraging AI and automation to achieve increased productivity, cost savings, and operational gains. (This) exemplifies how companies can integrate AI and automation for enterprise-wide transformation. We’re excited to continue partnering with them on this digital journey.”
