Driving behavior improved, violations reduced, biodiesel pilots tracked through custom dashboards.
Based on data analyses of connected-vehicle telematics* from 5.8m vehicle subscriptions processing 100bn data points daily across 160 countries on fleet sustainability and efficiency, a provider of vehicle telematics and fleet management hardware/software for fleet sustainability and efficiency has shared some findings were shared with the media.
First, connected electric vehicles in the data had traveled 870m miles (1.4bn km) in 2025.
Second, 870,000 light-duty vehicles had been identified as candidates for electrification based on range requirements through sustainability overviews.
Other findings
Third, active users of collision risk insights pages had a 38.94% lower collision rate compared to non-users. Also noted were:
- 39% decrease in collisions per million miles had occurred in the U.S. and Canada over the last four years
- 43% year-over-year increase had occurred in the number of connected EVs worldwide (1 Dec 2024 to 1 Dec 2025)
- 7,000 EV suitability assessments had been completed
- 375 EV models had been supported, including plug-in hybrid EVs (PHEV), battery EVs (BEV), and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV)
- A postal-logistics fleet had saved €1.6m in fuel costs (equivalent to 1m liters of diesel) by using EV data to right-size its 10,000-van fleet and optimize charging schedules
- A construction firm had reduced idling by 30% within three months, achieved 25% improved fuel economy, and cut speeding violations by 50%
- A public transit operator had achieved 20% fuel reduction and an approximated 40% decrease in violations and fines through driving behavior optimization and tachograph compliance
- A wholesale distributor had projected US$195,000+ in annual savings from a 90-day pilot, with 41% improvement in safe driving behavior and 8% reduction in collision risk
- A municipal fleet had used a custom dashboard to validate emissions reductions from a biodiesel fuel pilot program
According to Neil Cawse, Founder and CEO of Geotab, the firm sharing its data findings: “When integrated with a pragmatic focus on short-term value, sustainability measures can drive both efficiency and profitability. Every operational improvement is an immediate, measurable step towards resilience and growth.”
