Resort World Singapore adds AI and predictive controls to coordinate building efficiency optimization

Cloud-based building management expansion targets lower energy consumption, improved guest comfort, equipment scheduling, plus consolidated analytics across hotels, attractions, event venues

Operating hotels, attractions and event venues creates a climate-management challenge for Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) of Singapore: matching air-conditioning output to changing demand without wasting energy or compromising guest comfort.

The resort is extending its cloud-based building management infrastructure with AI and predictive controls to address that challenge and support its stated carbon-neutrality ambition for 2030. On 4 November 2026, RWS announced an initiative that builds on a connected-building deployment introduced in 2023. The new phase targets coordination across air-conditioning systems and district cooling infrastructure, rather than treating individual equipment as isolated systems. It aims to anticipate cooling requirements and adjust operations before conditions change. The work comprises three technical programs:

  1. Adaptive air-conditioning controls: AI adjusts heating, ventilation and air-conditioning operations to reduce energy consumption while maintaining indoor comfort. This capability is already deployed at the resort’s convention center and a themed attraction within Universal Studios Singapore.
  2. Predictive district cooling: Forecasting capabilities are intended to estimate resort-wide cooling demand and determine which equipment should operate and when. The objective is to limit unnecessary chilled-water production and improve plant efficiency, while maintaining the cooling output required by hotels, attractions and public spaces.
  3. Consolidated energy analytics: A shared platform will combine energy data, identify potential waste and provide facilities teams with recommendations across the resort. This is intended to give operators a broader view of consumption and opportunities for intervention.

Senior Vice President of RWS’s Resort Services Kess Chiang described the operational goal as moving beyond reactive maintenance toward anticipating comfort and efficiency needs: “Facilities management goes beyond fixing things when they break. It means staying ahead – using technology to make the resort more comfortable, reliable and efficient for every guest.”

Munish Suri, President, Building Automation (India and Asia Pacific), Honeywell Technologies, the technology provider, said the initiative focuses “on not simply automating individual systems such as HVAC, chillers and district energy infrastructure…. (but also) on  enabling interconnected systems to work intelligently together, continuously and proactively optimizing energy use as conditions change.”
