Large-enterprise survey finds many respondents still tracking AI trends, not redesigning spaces

A Jan–Apr 2026 survey covered C-suite executives and corporate real estate leaders across 15 industries and working in large-enterprises

Based on a Jan – Apr 2026 survey of over 2,200 C-suite executives and corporate real estate leaders across 21 countries* on future-of-work and AI-related real estate topics, a global real estate services and investment management firm has shared Corporate Real Estate Strategy (CRE) and other data findings with the media.

First, 78% of respondents had indicated their opinion that AI would drive significant changes to their real estate portfolio strategy, while 31% had reported actively preparing to redesign spaces for human-AI collaboration.

Second, 15% of respondents cited they had reached the optimizing stage of AI adoption, while 46% cited they had been focused on tracking AI trends, while 40% cited they had been analyzing potential impacts on their corporate real estate function.

Other findings

Third, 61% of respondents across respondents in the Asia Pacific region* had expected their workforces to grow. Also, for these respondents, unless otherwise stated:

  • 52% had indicated AI adoption in technology management
  • 51% had indicated AI adoption in portfolio optimization
  • 47% had indicated AI adoption in corporate real estate strategy development
  • 42% had identified the AI skills gap as their primary constraint, the highest rate reported in the release
  • 49% had expected talent scarcity driven by AI reskilling demands to define their workforce landscape over the next three to five years
  • 47% of overall respondents had identified cybersecurity and data privacy as a portfolio risk
  • 41% of overall respondents had cited identifying technology/AI disruption as a portfolio risk
  • 40% of overall respondents had cited identifying uncertainty around AI’s impact on space as a portfolio risk.
  • 44% of respondents representing APAC had cited identifying technology and AI disruption as a leading portfolio risk
  • 46% of C-suite respondents in the survey had cited advanced technology and AI support as a core CRE KPI
  • 44% of overall respondents had cited reliable technology infrastructure as a top strategy for employee productivity
  • 39% of respondents representing APAC cited their organizations had required full five-day office attendance
  • 39% of overall respondents had cited AI-driven workforce automation as a cost concern; 32% had cited technology infrastructure requirements as a cost concern; 44% had cited energy escalation as a cost concern

According to Kamya Miglani, Head of Research, Real Estate Management Services (APAC), JLL, the firm sharing its data findings, the respondents and their enterprises furthest along in their AI journey were “doubling down on their physical environments,” instead of assumptions that AI will reduce the need for physical workplaces.

*No geographical data available on which 21 countries were involved in the survey. The methodology states: Respondents represent organizations across 15 industries, with 50% employing fewer than 5,000 people globally, 27% employing 5,000–-9,999, and 23% employing more than 10,000.
