Malaysia’s development bank invests in an AI-driven cloud-based platform to enhance employee experiences and boost productivity and data-driven insights
As one of Malaysia’s development financial services institutions, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) provides financial assistance to enterprises in the industrial and commercial sectors in line with national economic policies and its own group agenda targeted for 2025.
Knowing that enhancing its human capital management sets a strong foundation for their future, BPMB has embarked on an accelerated digital transformation journey to advance their operational excellence and strategic growth.
Recently, the bank implemented a customizable human capital management (HCM) solution to significantly enhance its talent management processes and employee experiences. The upgrade was implemented within just 4.5 months, a timely and cost-effective achievement that shortened the time to realize the project value.
The AI-driven platform offers features for talent optimization, absence management, compensation-package design as part of a phased implementation, according to the bank’s Chief Human Resource Officer, Sainursalwa Sani. “The changes and dynamism seen in the market landscape requires businesses to have the right systems in place that can be agile in enabling and supporting business leaders to be decisive in their strategic planning and execution. The implementation… has already yielded very promising results for us so far,” Sani said.
Since the HCM digital transformation, daily HR operations have been streamlined to reduce manual efforts, enhancing the overall employee experience. Over half of HR tasks that were previously manual and time-consuming are now automated, reducing the risk of human error. New data reporting capabilities allow for more timely and accurate insights, facilitating effective workforce planning. The system also reduces data fragmentation, making it easier for staff to access, consolidate, and analyze information.
Collectively, these enhancements align closely with BPMB’s plan to deliver operational excellence and strategic growth.
SaidPannie Sia, General Manager (ASEAN), Workday, the HCM platform adopted by BPMB: “We are pleased with the opportunity to continue our collaboration… providing BPMB with actionable, real-time insights derived from detailed data analysis, enabling them to make informed decisions and empower teams at all levels.”
