As Indonesia’s largest connected-commerce platform, the firm now runs a data-driven self-help transformation culture.
A provider of shared infrastructure for over 1,200 local micro, small, and medium enterprises in Indonesia (including over 179,000 monthly active resellers delivering over 65,000 products) was keen to scale its businesses so as to reach more customers and improve their sales and revenue.
To provide even better support for the success and growth of its clients, social commerce firm Evermos embarked on an aggressive strategy to improve its understanding of the needs and desires of current resellers. However, because the firm’s data team is lean, it was unable to perform the in-depth analysis needed to unlock valuable insights from its data.
Eventually, the firm invested in a data cloud platform to power a data-driven transformation strategy and enhance its data analytics and engineering capabilities. The unified data platform chosen formed the underlying foundation for a “Self-Service Analytics Project” that empowered business teams to perform basic analytics tasks on their own, democratize data, and foster a data-driven culture.
In achieving self-service analytics capability, Evermos was able to connected data that was previously dispersed across sources, into a seamless repository that business analysts could access through visualization tools and analytics applications.
Tapping a self-service data approach
This democratization of data also allowed the firm’s analysts to utilize available self-service analytics tools to drive value, regardless of their technical background. The workload of the data team was thus effectively halved, and this freed up their time for more sophisticated tasks. Additionally, the unified data platform enables the firm’s teams to deploy a data segmentation tool for sales and marketing teams. Prior to this, it took the data team a full business day to process a request from sales and marketing. Now, it takes less than an hour for the sales and marketing teams to execute a request on their own.
According to the firm’s Vice President of Data, Rendy Bambang Junior: “By enabling our business teams to perform simple analytics tasks on their own, it is as if we have hired an additional data team. With their workload significantly reduced, our data team now focuses on more strategic work, such as diagnostic and even prescriptive analytics. Furthermore, Evermos is now better equipped to pursue strategic initiatives that help the company better engage new resellers.”
Said Satchit Joglekar, Regional Director, Emerging Markets, Snowflake ASEAN, the vendor for the data platform: “We are thrilled to support Evermos in their mission to empower local businesses so they can grow and compete on a global stage.”
