Now, the FDA has approved a new type of filter that promises to remove coronavrisues by up to 99.9% inside cars and small interiors.

Having been confirmed that COVID-19 can be spread through airborne means, there is now a need to prevent aerosol transmission of the virus in enclosed environments and confined spaces, including vehicle interiors.

The Food and Drug Administration in the USA has recently cleared the first-ever air purifier provider for offering technology that expects to eliminate more than 99.9% of airborne coronavirus. Car manufacturers such as Audi, Jaguar, Mercedes Benz, Scania and Volkswagen have already partnered the Hong Kong firm, Aurabeat, in the Hong Kong market.

Commented Martin Law, Quality and Safety Manager: “Scania and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles: We hope to ease the concerns of thousands of goods vehicle drivers in Hong Kong. Under our partnership with Aurabeat, we are able to create a safer and cleaner environment daily, for drivers and their passengers.”

The firm’s antiviral air filtration technology has also attracted business from businesses and consumers across over 800 cities, including the Hong Kong Fire Services Department, St. John Ambulance, National Police Office in Philippines, and others across the region.

Instead of simply trapping or filtering air contaminants, the technology employs silver ions to eliminate trapped viruses for up to two years before requiring filter replacement. The tech can also be applied onto cabin air filters of various brands.

Said Dr. Roger Szeto, Founder and Chief Scientist, Aurabeat: “In the context of COVID-19, short-range airborne transmission can occur under certain circumstances and settings—particularly crowded and inadequately ventilated spaces. Our research and development experts have achieved a breakthrough solution to apply our patented technology to eliminate the coronavirus in vehicles, ambulances, elevators, cruisers, minibuses, taxis, buses and other smaller confined areas.”

The technology has been certified to effective trap and eliminate particles as small as 0.1 micrometer, thereby offering drivers and passengers peace of mind by providing protection from COVID-19.
