Allianz Partners adds eSIM connectivity for overseas policyholders

Allianz Partners adds eSIM connectivity for overseas policyholders

The digitalization initiative spans 123 destinations, supporting messaging, calls, data purchases, and a temporary allocation of 1GB high-speed data access

People interested in procuring travel insurance increasingly need reliable mobile access while abroad to contact assistance services, receive travel updates, use navigation, and communicate through messaging applications.

In order to address some of the practical limitations of conventional roaming and physical SIM cards, Allianz Partners, which provides travel insurance and assistance services across the Asia Pacific region, has added eSIM-based connectivity to eligible customers’ travel coverage

Announced on 21 July 2026, the initiative gives eligible policyholders access to a digital connectivity membership alongside their insurance. The approach is intended to reduce the need for customers to replace SIM cards, locate public Wi-Fi, or arrange data access separately after arriving in another country. It also provides an additional communication channel that may be relevant when travelers need to access insurance-related services while overseas. The implementation includes:

  • An eSIM-based connectivity service available across 123 destinations
  • Support for messaging and voice calls through selected internet-based communication applications without a separately purchased data plan
  • A temporary 1GB global high-speed data allocation for eligible customers at launch
  • Optional purchases of additional high-speed data through a messaging-based support channel
  • Digital access to usage information and data-plan purchases, reducing reliance on physical SIM distribution

The firm’s managing director (Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa), Vinay Surana, said travelers increasingly expect access to connectivity as part of an end-to-end travel experience. He said the latest arrangement addresses the expectation for “always-on connectivity” and could give customers “greater confidence and convenience wherever they go.”

According to Richard Bok, founder and CEO, Travelgoogoo, the technology vendor providing the eSIM travel-connectivity capabilities, said this connectivity supports travelers’ ability to access essential digital services across borders, “by removing the usual friction associated with roaming and data plans.”
